Case Study
DELTA 7kW AC Commercial Install
Building Environment Control Ltd required electric vehicle charging points at their Head Office in response to employee and visitors demand. The Head Office is situated in an industrial park north of Stoke-on-Trent.Delta, one of our manufacturers, provided us with the referral for the supply and installation of the charging units. They wanted to be able to connect the chargers to their own building management system to monitor charger usage and performance.
As this is a workplace charger, they were eligible for the Work Place Charging Scheme meaning Building Environment Control Ltd could claim £500 per charge point.
Rapid Charge installed two Delta AC Mini Plus 7kW charge points mounted on a free-standing pedestal.Bespoke branding designed and applied to charge point pedestal. The company are now using their own building management system to control access to EV charging, monitor usage and view how the chargers compare in comparison to other energy assets at the property. Building Environment Control Ltd can monitor the LAN connected charge points and remotely perform simple fixes and issue down the line updates. This reduces the need for on-site maintenance and minimises inconvenience.Rapid Charge uploaded the chargers to Zap-Map to make EV drivers aware of the charge points and any relevant information related to the use of the chargers.
This is an additional marketing tool for the company that comes as part of the Rapid building management system to monitor charger usage and performance. As this is a workplace charger, they were eligible for the Work Place Charging Scheme meaning Building Environment Control Ltd could claim £500 per charge point.
Rapid Charge, who offer a fully managed service from initial consultation through to surveying, installation and maintenance, were able to provide a state-of-the-art charging unit that enables a secure and tracked usage arrangement. The company are extremely proud of their efforts in improving energy efficiency and by installing Rapid Charge EV Charge Points, they are continuing to support low-emission initiatives.Drivers are able to charge their vehicles overnight while they are visiting/working at the offices. The 7kW charge point is a perfect solution as it will charge a car to 100% battery capacity between 5-6 hours. To prevent the parking bays being occupied by petrol or diesel drivers.
Rapid Charge worked closely with Building Environment Control to design and create a dedicated EV Zone, with painted bays, tyre stops and clear signage notifying employees and visitors that the parking spaces were for EV drivers only. The units are tethered providing a Type 2 only charging solution.Drivers have praised the easy use and performance of the charge points.
Building Environment Control Ltd has a clear view of who is using the charge points, by using their building management system that is integrated into the charge points.
Drivers have praised the clearly marked and signed EV Zone, which has meant the bays are seldom blocked by non-charging drivers. Furthermore, Delta’s charge points are internet enabled, either via LAN, WIFI or 4G, which means Building Environment Control Ltd.’s building management system operator is able to troubleshoot many problems remotely. Problems can be resolved more efficiently, compared with ‘dumb’ charge points, as the need for on-site maintenance is reduced.
